NEXUS (2022), CHAN’S first jewelry collection, was finished over the span of a year and a half and highlighted HIS growing fascination with the connection between the natural world and the human adornment. “Nexus” is a term that defines the connection between two things, the space between entities in which there is a joint relationship, the centre point from which things emerge and grow from.
When CHAN first thought of a name for this collection, HE thought about where plants cAme from, how the living world is intertwined and how living creatures feed off one another. HE thought about the stem of a plant, each blossoming flower, each single petal, each stamen of pollen being connected and integral to the entire organism.
In addition to plants and other flora, CHAN THOUGHT ABOUT MAMMALS, THEIR FLESH AND HOW THEY ARE BORN, GROW, DEFORM AND DIE. IT WAS ULTIMATELY THE ORGANIC FORMULA THAT DESIGNS LIFE THAT HELPED DESIGN NEXUS.
